Part of the Conversations about Endangered Sites series:

Heritage Vancouver invites you to participate in an evening of conversation about the
future of the West End’s Heritage. Guests, City of Vancouver Councillor, Adriane Carr,
Director of SFU’s Gordon Price, and City Planner for the West End Plan Holly Sovdi
will present ideas about what we could do to preserve the West End’s heritage buildings
and maintain the heritage character of the West End.

This past year when the city gave the owner of the historic Legg Residence at 1241
Harwood Street permission to demolish one of the West End’s 3 remaining 19th century
mansions, the community wondered if any heritage building in the West End was safe
from the wrecking ball. The owner of the Legg Residence wanted to restore and
designate the building but was unable over a period of five years to receive city approval
for a variety of proposals.

This evening is an opportunity to create ideas to make sure our important heritage
buildings are part of the future landscape of the West End. We invite you to come and
join in the conversation.
