End of an era: Ydessa Hendeles has closed her Toronto gallery doors
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
The brushed steel letters that spelled Uniforms Registered are gone from the industrial brick exterior. A
yellow sign offers the Toronto building for lease. These are almost the only public signs that there will be no
more exhibitions at the King Street West gallery space of the Ydessa Hendeles Art Foundation. A voice
message on the YHAF phone line confirms that the space is closed, and that the foundation 'will continue in
a variety of projects in Toronto, elsewhere in Canada and abroad.' More/LIRE PLUS
Old evidence from famous RCMP cases on display
Metro Regina Share/Partager
Just in time for Halloween, vintage RCMP evidence and forensic tools are on display for a limited time in
an exhibit called The Black Museum. "We don't get many opportunities to show pieces from our forensic
collections or our criminal case collections. For us, it was an opportunity to show the depths of the
collection and some of the different types of collections that are not always on public display," said Jodi Ann
Eskritt, curator of the RCMP Historical Collections Unit. More/LIRE PLUS
More/LIRE PLUS
More/LIRE PLUS

Toronto's haunted hot spots
Torontoist Share/Partager
Although Toronto is a relatively young city by international standards, we seem to have crammed a decent
amount of murder and mayhem into our brief but vivid history. As Halloween draws near, we at Torontoist
thought we would draw on a number of online sources (including our own Toronto Ghost Map from last
year) to provide a compendium of the city's haunts and haunters. More/LIRE PLUS
Companies team up to take the roof off N.S. foam insulation recycling initiatives
Chronicle Herald Share/Partager
A couple of Nova Scotia businesses are tackling a Stellarton project to promote their foam insulation
recycling efforts. The Nova Scotia Museum of Industry in Stellarton is getting a new roof, and Truefoam of
Dartmouth and McCarthy's Roofing of Halifax are collaborating to ensure over five tractor-trailer loads of old
foam insulation from the building's roof are diverted from landfills and recycled at Truefoam's plant in
Dartmouth. More/LIRE PLUS
Vancouver visual arts events this week
Vancouver Sun Share/Partager
The Voyage, or Three Years at Sea Part IV: For this exhibition, three contemporary artists explore our
relationship with the sea. Stan Douglas' mind-bending video loop Journey Into Fear (above) is set on a
container ship. England´s Uriel Orlow's project explores the community formed by the crew of 14 cargo
vessels forced to remain in the Suez Canal for eight years as a result of the aftermath of 1967's Six Day
War. And California's Allan Sekula's latest film The Forgotten Space investigates the impact of globalization
on sea workers and the sea itself. More/LIRE PLUS
