Taste Bounty from the Harvest at BC Bites and Beverages
Victoria, BC - Don Genova, Master of Food Culture, leads this second session of the Royal BC Museum food and drink series featuring chefs, producers and historians.
The September 20 casual evening of food history includes local farmers and food samplings. Don will talk about why much of the agricultural production on Vancouver Island disappeared and is now returning with a more personal link between farmer and consumer.
Don Genova's stories often share the backgrounds of farmers and food artisans that are passionate about what they do. He was inspired early on by James Barber, Canada's Urban Peasant. Don also teaches cooking and delivers courses in sustainable gastronomy as well as food and travel writing. His current CBC radio feature is Food Matters, delving into the world of sustainable eating in British Columbia. Don earned his Masters of Food Culture from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy, 2007. He also holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science from the University of Waterloo.
