Win a trip to Antarctica with the Royal BC Museum's Race to the End of the Earth
Victoria, BC - In the lead up to the opening of the upcoming feature exhibition, Race to the End of the Earth, the Royal BC Museum wants to send one lucky person and a friend on their own expedition to Antarctica.
To start the journey, visit explore.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca and complete the online entry form before May 17, 2013.
The Grand Prize winner will follow in the footsteps of England's Robert Falcon Scott and Norway's Roald Amundsen on their own 11-day Antarctic adventure for two courtesy of Quark Expeditions, a leader in polar adventure, including return airfare from anywhere in Canada provided by Flight Centre. While in Antarctica, the lucky winner will learn about the remote and spectacular natural environment from onboard specialists, be delighted by penguins, seals and whales, and explore by Zodiac and on foot the iconic sights that make Antarctica one of the planet's most unspoiled and unforgettable places. Second prize is a two-night getaway to Victoria, BC to see the remarkable Race to the End of the Earth feature exhibition, tour the Royal BC Museum and stay at the Hotel Grand Pacific.
Opening May 17 and running until October 14, Race to the End of the Earth chronicles the epic adventures of Amundsen and Scott as they risk everything in their daring quests to be the first to reach the South Pole. The exhibition takes visitors back in time with photographs, paintings, and original artifacts from their distinctly different expeditions. It also includes life-sized re-creations of Scott's hut at Cape Evans, including his study and three of his crew members' living spaces, and Amundsen's underground workrooms, where his crew worked on their gear while protected from the extreme wind and cold.
