BC Sports Hall of Fame opens new exhibit "Sport In BC - Choose Your Path"
with support from Province of BC.
Vancouver, BC Sport In BC - Choose Your Path is the result of a
partnership between the Province of British Columbia, specifically the
Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, and the BC Sports
Hall of Fame, with content support from many organizations in the BC sport
sector. This initiative educates visitors about the BC Sport System and in
particular how the system features the Performance Pathway and Canadian
Sport for Life to support athletes and coaches on their journeys from an
ACTIVE START through being ACTIVE FOR LIFE. The exhibit will be permanently
on display at the BC Sports Hall of Fame and have an outreach component for
other regions in the province.
The Honourable Bill Bennett, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural
Development stated,
"The BC Sports Hall of Fame is full of homegrown success stories-real
stories of inspiration. The beautiful thing about this exhibit is that it
powerfully illustrates for young British Columbians how they, too, can reach
all of their sporting goals. BC's sport sector has a bright future, and this
exhibit helps to reinforce it. Well done!"
Of the new exhibit, President and CEO Sue Griffin says, "I know British
Columbians are so proud of how well our athletes and coaches have been doing
on the world stage, Sport in BC - Choose Your Path, will help parents and
community members identify the next stages of development for their future
Hall of Famers. Sport In BC - Choose Your Path would not be possible
without the support from the Province of BC and our partners in the sport
system who helped us tremendously in the creation of this exhibit. On behalf
of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, thank you to the Province of BC, viaSport, BC
Games Society, Sport BC and the Canadian Sport Institute for their continued
support of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and this newest exhibit.
