Candidates must be in school full time and be returning full time in the 
fall; be between the ages of 16 and 30 and be legally entitled to work 
in Canada.  Positions are dependent on approved funding from the HRSDC 
Summer Employment for Students program and from the YCW program.

*Exhibition and Public Activity Animator*

The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford seeks an energetic summer student 
for the position of /Exhibition and Public Activity Animator/. This 16 
week position, which runs from May 6 to August 23, will provide a 
practical, hands-on learning experience for a student in the museum 
and/or gallery sector in the area of visual art and/or museum education, 
interpretation and public programming.

The ideal candidate will have research interest and capability, a 
working knowledge of program development, good administrative skills to 
handle paperwork and meet deadlines, as well as excellent communication 
and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in galleries, museums or a 
related field is an asset. The hourly rate for this position is $14.00

*Archives Assistant*

The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford seeks a conscientious and 
detail-oriented student for the position of /Archives Assistant/. This 
is a 16 week position that will run from May 6 to August 23 and will 
provide a practical, hands-on learning experience for a student in the 
museum and/or gallery sector in the area of photo archival management. 
The hourly rate for this position is $14.00 plus 4% vacation pay.

The participant will gain valuable experience in the museum, gallery and 
history fields as well as enhancing customer service skills and general 
employability by working in a facility that features both community 
heritage collections and exhibitions as well as showcasing the best in 
visual arts; that encourages community participation by offering 
interesting and innovative programs that stimulate creativity, expands 
knowledge and skills and addresses the needs and interests of the 
community and that provides an inclusive place to exchange new ideas and 
explore our differences and similarities in an environment of mutual 
respect and understanding.

The participant will work under the supervision of The Reach Collections 
Manager, Kris Foulds, who will provide training specific to archives 
access and the digitization project, oversee day to day activities and 
meet with the participant weekly to ensure that project goals and the 
development expectations of the participant are being met. Interested

position, which runs from May 6 to August 23, will provide a practical, 
hands-on learning experience for a student in the museum and/or gallery 
sector in the area of public and educational programming, event 
management, marketing and publicity and community cultural development.
