TWENTY ARTISTS CREATE ONE OF A KIND PIECES OF ART TO SUPPORT NATIVE YOUTH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 3, 2013

Lattimer Gallery is partnering with 20 First Nations artists from across the
province to support the Native Youth Centre capital campaign in Vancouver,
BC. In this final year of the three-year commitment, all of the partners
hope to raise $50,000 to bring the three-year total to over $100,000.
Already committed sponsors include Yukiko Matsu-Pissot, Precision Graphics,
Hub International, Vancity, Schmidt & Funk Financial Services Ltd.,
kentpictureframing.com and First Nations 101.

James Michaels handcrafts and donates all of the traditional bentwood boxes
for the artists, including himself, to create dynamic one of a kind pieces
of art for the auction that runs from Saturday, November 23rd to Saturday
December 7th at Lattimer Gallery, 1590 West 2nd Avenue in Vancouver. At
least one box will be highlighted online every day from November 23rd until
the completion of the auction. Bids can be made in person, by phone, or via
email through Lattimer Gallery. A Global News segment featured this event on
<http://globalnews.ca/video/987442/bentwood-boxes> Sunday, November 24th on
9:45am.

The first two auctions held in 2011 and 2012 included artist such as Robert
Davidson, Richard Sumner, and Marie Oldfield. Historically each box has
fetched anywhere from $250 - $5,500. Many of this year's artists, including
Shawn Hunt, Corey Bulpitt, and Phil Gray will be in attendance for donors,
bidders, and supporters to meet at a reception hosted by Lattimer Gallery on
Saturday, December 7th from 5pm to 8pm.

Lynda Gray, Executive Director of the Urban Native Youth Association, says
that "she is very grateful for the generosity shown by so many supporters
coming together to make a clear statement that supporting Native youth is
very important." She adds that "this sort of partnership development is
very important in raising the profile of UNYA, encouraging Native youth, and
raising funds for important work".

Peter Lattimer, owner of the Lattimer Gallery says "It gives me great pride
to work with such amazing artists to help this cause"
