[BCMA] Kelowna's New Vintage Theatre Launches First Season

KELOWNA'S NEW VINTAGE THEATRE LAUNCHES FIRST SEASON 

 

 

New Vintage Theatre launched their first full season on Saturday, January 26
at a sold out event at The Vibrant Vine which also served as a sneak peek of
their first production,  Super 8.

 

"This season reflects our desire to celebrate the innovation of fantastic
new Canadian works and to re-imagine theatre classics in new and exciting
ways.  We are thrilled with how warmly Kelowna has received our company so
far and we look forward to producing a full line up of professional plays
this coming season which offers something for everyone.", says Artistic
Director Bonnie Gratz

 

Super 8, the award winning new play by Mark C. Hopkins and Charles Netto
launches the season at The Black Box Theatre in July and is followed by
large scale productions of Rebecca, the Daphne du Maurier mystery, in
October and Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie in February at the
Kelowna Community Theatre.  The season is rounded out with great for all
ages productions of A Christmas Carol and a superhero musical by Canadian
Ethan Cole called The Astonishing Adventures of Awesome Girl and Radical Boy
which will be at The Black Box Theatre in March 2014.  New Vintage will also
co-present Hub Artist Collective's production of The God of Carnage in June
2013 and will be offering the fun, touching comedy Calendar Girls which will
feature the company's advanced acting students in May & June 2013.

 

New Vintage Theatre is a professional theatre company that was formed in
August 2012 with the mandate to create and produce new works and remount the
classics in captivating ways. Their commitment to play development can be
seen at their monthly play readings and the Playwright's Hot House, a new
play development program for Interior artists, both of which take place at
The Pulp Fiction Coffeehouse.  The group also offers acting classes for
beginning and experienced actors at Rotary Centre For The Arts.
