Subject: [BCMA] BCMA Council Welcomes New Treasurer, HTA Coordinator

Hello All,

There have been a few changes on the BCMA council the past few weeks. The
council has welcomed a new member - Jon Irwin, Executive Director of the
Maritime Museum, who was appointed Treasurer at the beginning of February.
The council is thrilled to have Jon's assistance and financial brain. Jon
is currently on an interim appointment until the next AGM in June (more on
this event coming soon) when he will stand for election to a two year term.
Chris Mathieson has stepped down from the council but is still assisting
BCMA and has taken the role of coordinator with the Heritage Tourism
Alliance (HTA). We very much appreciate Chris' time on the council and
while he is not going far, he will be missed.

The BCMA Council is comprised of Leah Best, President, Peter Ord, Vice
President, Kris Anderson, Past President, Jon Irwin, Treasurer, Deborah
Hudson, Secretary, Dennis Oomen, David Alexander and Lillian Hunt.

A little bit more about Jon Irwin.

Jon Irwin, CMA was appointed Executive Director of the Maritime Museum of BC
in 2012 after serving as General Manager for more than a year. Jon's
experience as General Manager at several manufacturing companies over the
past 15 years has helped the Maritime Museum of BC to streamline and improve
office functionality and internal systems. With his strong background in
revenue generation and financial maintenance, Jon has successful grown
companies in the past achieving revenue growths upwards of two million each
year. His experience with personnel allowed him to grow a small staff at a
major manufacturing company from 4 to 25, enabling the company to support
his vision as an industry leader. He brings this wealth of knowledge and
experience to the museum where he has led the board and staff through a
strategic planning process. As a consultant to Philbrooks Boatyard Ltd., he
provided expertise in finance, public relations and business development.
His accomplishments at the Maritime Museum of BC include leading the Board
of Directors through a process of board renewal and business planning which
has positioned the museum for future success. Jon also oversees all
department managers and museum functions, ensuring the museum moves forward.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
