The Vancouver Women’s University Club invites you to attend an evening of swinging jazz, featuring bassist Jodi Proznick.  Held in the elegant drawing room of the Hycroft mansion, the Jodi Proznick Quartet will perform a range of music from their jazz  recordings.  Proznick’s music has been described as “intense, energetic swing” and she is known for playing with “intoxicating passion.”  She will be joined by pianist Tilden Webb and drummer Jesse Cahill.

 

In the spirit of the great 1960s talk show television programme Jazz Casual, the concert will also include a discussion with Proznick about her music and the history of jazz in Vancouver, hosted by freelance Globe and Mail journalist and jazz saxophonist Erin Millar.

 

White Rock native Proznick is widely recognized as one of Canada’s leading jazz bassists. Her debut album “Foundations” won album of the year at the 2008 National Jazz awards. She has performed across the continent, including CBC’s Jazzbeat and Hot Air as well as with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

 

This is the fourth concert in the Jazz Casual series and offers jazz lovers, as well as jazz newcomers, the opportunity to experience some of Vancouver’s best jazz performers play in one of Vancouver’s most beautiful heritage houses.  Join us for this intimate, in-concert gathering.

 

Ticket price includes appetizers and a tour of the Hycroft mansion. Seating is limited.
