Hello All

It's the start of spring cleaning and we have turned up a few un-needed (un-needed? Things we do not need) at Burnaby Village Museum.

Tuba mouth piece - the barrel tapers up from tip to body - .525 in to .575 in. If you have a voiceless tuba or French horn this is just for you.

Learn to play the Harmonica. We have four copies of "How to Play the Hohner Harmonica", "Make Canada More Musical". This is a small pamphlet, 9cm. by 21 cm., stapled at the spine. No dates but probably 1920s - 1930s.

We also have 16 boxes of soap bars , "SUNLIGHT SOAP" "A LEVER PRODUCT". The package is 9.8 cm.. X 7.5 cm. X 4cm., mostly blue with yellow and red highlights and white text. "Playtime rubs / dirt into their clothes" and Sunlight's / EXTRA / SOAPINSS" are text on the reverse side of the package. They look 1950s early 1960s to me. Most are in good shape a couple have mildew staining.

Last and far from least is an RCMP uniform consisting of: Tunic and shirt ca. 1972 / 73 and pants ca 1955. (sans cap)

RCMP tunic jacket with belt. The jacket has two hip pockets with button down flaps and two breast pockets with button down flaps. The jacket is partially lined with a gray-green satin material. There is a single vent at the back and one inside left breast pocket. All the silver plated buttons are present but the collar badges have been removed. There are two belt loops sewn at the side seams to support the waist belt. The matching cloth belt is 2 inches wide and has a double tongue on the buckle.

There are three service stars on the proper left shoulder and sergeant chevrons with a crown for staff sergeant rank on the proper right shoulder. There is a long service ribon -blue with yellow bars and a metal bar sewn over the right breast pocket.

There is a label inside the proper right of jacket "HOUSE OF STONE / SIZE J /CHEST 48 / ORDER NO. 89742 1972" printed on label. "1973" has been hand written in black ink on the label.

RCMP brown serge pants with 2 inch cuffs. They have a three button fly and have belt loops and suspender buttons. The label on the inside waist reads "RCMP / SIZE G HEIGHT 5' 9 - 5' 10 / INSEAM 32 WAIST 34 / ORDER NO 94319 / JUNE 1955 / TIP TOP TAILORS LTD."

RCMP short sleeve shirt with shoulder flashes. The sleeves have cuffs and there are two breast pockets. Epaulets are buttoned near the collar. Printed inside collar "6025 307 / 17/ 43 CM / CHEMISES YAMASKA SHIRT / LTEE / LTD / 1980" Printed on the label sewn into the collar "Highway by/par DARBY / 65% Polyester / 35% Cottton/Coton / MADE IN/FAIT AU CANADA" There are additional washing instructions and Union made designation. The Shoulder flashes are embroidered with "RCMP GRC" and the buffalo head logo.
