About the Instructor:
Ruth Freeman, a Partner of Blue Sky Design, is an interpretive planner with thirty years of experience in the museum field. Her specialization is exhibition planning, a vocation sparked during her period as Coordinator of the Discovery Gallery at the Royal Ontario Museum, and developed when she managed interpretive planning at the ROM during a period of major expansion. As a consultant, she plans exhibitions and informal learning experiences for visitors to museums, heritage sites and parks. A key member of the project team, she organizes information to make complex or unfamiliar ideas meaningful and finds creative interpretive solutions to convey those messages while engaging visitors. When communicating through exhibitions, she uses interpretive approaches that connect new learners as well as knowledgeable visitors to the key concepts of each project. She has worked on projects dealing with exploration of the universe, discovery of the world of nature, examination of ancient and contemporary cultures, and consideration of social and historical issues.
