Dear Arts and Culture Service Organization,
Last week you received an email (copy below) from BC Arts Council Chair,
Stan Hamilton, about new funding opportunities through the Ministry of
Community, Sport and Cultural Development. The B.C. government is
providing $1.5 million to BC Creative Communities and BC Creative
Spaces. For more details about these programs, please see the
guidelines and applications forms at

We would like to ensure that organizations with eligible projects are
aware of these funding opportunities. If you have the means to do so,
please distribute the information on BC Creative Communities and BC
Creative Spaces to your members.
Sincerely,
Gillian Wood

Dear BC Arts Council stakeholder,
I am writing to ensure you are aware of new funding opportunities
through the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. On
January 9, 2013, Honourable Bill Bennett, Minister of Community, Sport
and Cultural Development, announced that the B.C. government is
investing $1.5 million in two new programs: BC Creative Communities and
BC Creative Spaces. Non-profit arts and/or cultural organizations,
First Nations band councils and friendship centres are eligible to apply
for one-time-only funding. The BC Creative Communities program will
provide up to 75% of project costs, to a maximum of $25,000, to eligible
projects that help arts and cultural organizations to get more British
Columbians involved in creative activities in their communities. The
BC Creative Spaces program will provide up to 75% of project costs, to a
maximum of $50,000, to improve the physical conditions for engaging
British Columbians in creative activities. The deadline for
applications is Friday, February 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm.
To see the full News Release from Honourable Bennett, please visit

For additional information on these programs, including guidelines and
application forms, please see

While these programs are not offered through the BC Arts Council, they
nevertheless represent an important and timely addition to the support
provided by the Ministry.
On behalf of the BC Arts Council, thank you for your ongoing
contributions to arts and culture.
Sincerely,
Stan Hamilton
Chair
