Sounds like they need to get a designer first to establish what the scope and scale of the publication will be. Until that is established no-one can give them an accurate quote.
Second, I'd recommend Hemlock Printers in Burnaby. They may cost a bit more, but they are worth it. They have been printing our books for the last five years.

Hi Tammy,
We just finished publishing a book and Friesens did the printing for us. They did a great job and really help walked us publishing novices through the details. We got a few quotes from other printers in the Vancouver area but none could beat Friesens. West Vancouver also did a community history book with them a couple years ago and gave them a good reference.
