Good morning all--
We have a number of upcoming presentations, workshops and performances
here at the Grist Mill that you or your members may be interested in. We
would appreciate any help you can provide in helping me spread the word.
UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE GRIST MILL
*Presentation: "An Enchantment of Birds" (with Dick Canning)*
Saturday, July 20 @ 1:30PM
Come hear famed veteran biologist Dick Cannings share delightful tales
form his book "An Enchantment of Birds" and explore the many birds that
call the Grist Mill home.
*Plein-Air Painting Workshop (with Loraine Stephenson)*
Sunday, July 21, All Day (9:00AM Start)
Enjoy a day of painting and sketching in our picturesque Victorian
Gardens with local artist Loraine Stephenson.
*Presentation: "Historic Mills in BC" (with Cuyler Page)*
Sunday July 21 @ 1:30PM
Join us for a fascinating talk about the many threads that bind together
many of the historic mills in BC featuring the Grist Mill's own Cuyler Page.
*Concert: DRUMHAND*
Thursday, July 25 @ 7:00PM
This is the second of four outdoor evening concerts we're hosting at the
Grist Mill this season. From Toronto, DRUMHAND combines African and
Latin beats with jazz and other influences to make a sound you can't
help but dance to.
*Presentation: The Unique History of the Zucca Melon (with Ken Favrholdt)*

Imagine an incredible gourd that can grow by as much as 2lbs a day. Join
Ken Favrholdt from the Osoyoos Museum as he shares the wonderful history
of this local oddity.
*Sunday Traditional Acoustic Jam*
Sunday, July 28 @ 1:00PM
If you're interested in traditional music, grab an acoustic instrument
and join us for our twice-monthly jam session with some of the best
local talents. Those who bring an instrument and participate will be
admitted at no charge.
*Presentation: "Early Chinese Settlers in the Similkameen"*
Sunday, July 28 @ 2:00pm
Come learn about the almost-forgotten history of significant Chinese
settlement in the Similkameen Valley through photographs, newspaper
clippings and a short film. This presentation is co-facilitated by the
Grist Mill & Gardens, the South Similkameen Museum Society and the
Hedley Heritage Museum.
*Concert: Shari Ulrich Trio*
Thursday, August 1 @ 7:00PM
The third in our evening concert series. A Juno Award-winning singer and
songwriter, famous not only for her long solo career but also her
involvement with Pied Pumkin, U.H.F. and more, she will be performing as
a trio with her daughter and a classmate.
All presentations are free with admission (and to seasons pass holders),
while workshops and concerts have individual fees depending on the
