Job Summary:
The Department of Tourism and Culture is looking for an exceptional and experienced manager to join our team of dedicated professionals who share our vision of being the place the world wants to be. The Manager, Museums is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and evaluating a broad range of programs and technical services in support of museums, interpretive centres and First Nation cultural/heritage centres throughout the territory. The manager works in a collaborative team-oriented environment to ensure the growth and orderly development of these facilities and their museological practices in accordance with allocated resources and recognized museological standards. The position provides strategic direction to the overall management of the Museums Unit, including managing four professional/technical staff assigned to the management of the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre, Conservation Program, Collections Management Program, and the First Nations Heritage Program which assists with capacity building and development for First Nation heritage departments and cultural/heritage centres.

Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume;
* Post-secondary diploma or degree in Museums Studies or a related culture / heritage field
* Considerable experience managing a museum or Cultural/Interpretive Centre
* Several years' experience as a manager responsible for developing a vision and providing strategic direction at a senior level
* Several years' experience in leading a team of professionals including managing human and financial resources
* Experience managing complex multiple-stakeholder programs and/or initiatives, preferably in a government setting.
* Experience managing and administering museums funding programs would be an asset

The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership, inter-personal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence others to find collaborative solutions to complex issues. You are a team leader, facilitator, and negotiator who can effectively build and maintain relationships both externally and within and across governments. We are looking for a motivated, resourceful, flexible and innovative individual who is politically astute, and comfortable with and adaptable to change.
