COLLABORATION & CONTRAST: the dynamic work of brothers rod smith and steve
smith

Vancouver, bc - june 3, 2013: Artists, brothers, painters: Rod Smith and
Steve Smith share this much in common, yet they both possess a style that is
very much their own. 

 

Demonstrating these two artists' unified yet unique styles is Collaboration
& Contrast, an upcoming exhibition presented by Lattimer Gallery. Taught
first by their father, the late Harris Smith, both Rod and Steve have been
exploring the medium of acrylic paint on sculptural works for over twenty
years. 

 

By translating their individual Kwakwaka'wakw style, they have created a
visual language that is distinctly their own. This upcoming show will
highlight collaboration pieces as well as a selection of individual works
including cedar bentwood boxes, sculptures, and paddles; all of these
playful and imaginative pieces have been created exclusively for
Collaboration & Contrast. 

 

Collaboration & Contrast will be on display from Saturday, June 22nd to
Saturday, July 20th, 2013. An online preview of the works will be available
on June 15th. Please join us for our reception on Saturday, June 22nd from
4-7pm to celebrate the show's opening and National Aboriginal Day.
