Coast Salish Weaving with Jessica Casey

    Wool Weaving: Use a loom to weave a wool shawl or tunic

    Friday, June 21st – Sunday, June 23rd

    Friday, 5 pm to 8 pm - warp the looms

    Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm – weaving

    $300 registration fee

    All materials are included – All skill levels



    Twill Weaving: Learn the diamond pattern and weave a small bag 

    using only twine weave (all finger work)

    Saturday, July 13th – Sunday, July 14th

    Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm.

    $200 registration fee

    All materials are included – Intermediate Level



    Basket Weaving: weave a cedar berry basket with strap 

    Saturday, August 10th 

    10 am to 4 pm 

    $85 registration fee

    All materials are included – All skill levels



Back by popular demand, the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives celebrates the traditions of the Coast Salish people with a summer workshop series facilitated by Jessica Casey. Jessica is a self taught weaver of Coast Salish and Portuguese decent. She was born and raised in Egmont, B.C., but currently resides in Sechelt. Combining traditional Coast Salish construction and design with her own artistic vision, she creates beautiful baskets, hats, blankets, shawls and mats. Her creations can be found in numerous private collections worldwide and are now available in notable art galleries in the Lower Mainland.
