[BCMA] Trophy Policy

[Moderated BCMA subscriber listserv.]

The North Vancouver Museum developed some trophy evaluation criteria a couple of years ago:

*         Is the event commemorated unique/important to North Vancouver?

*         Does the achievement represent an early success for someone who went on to have great success?

*         Is it from an "iconic" institution in our community?

*         Are the craftsmanship and aesthetic elements superior?

*         Does it represent activities that are now "extinct"?

*         Does it tell us about gender equity and/or cultural diversity?

Hello Everyone,

Due to the high volume of trophies we are offered, my Collection Management Committee has requested the creation of a specific "Trophy Collection Management Policy" which would set the guidelines under which we would accept the donation of these trophies (or not).  Does anyone else have a similar policy they would be willing to share so I might gather some ideas of what to include?  Any suggestions are also welcomed.
