BC Sports Hall of Fame raises $40,000 (net) for its Hero In You Youth
Education Programs at the 2013 Tournament of Champions presented by Canadian
Direct Insurance. 

 

Vancouver, B.C. (June 27, 2013) - The British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame
is pleased to announce the 2013 Tournament of Champions presented by
Canadian Direct Insurance raised $40,000 (net) for its Hero In You Youth
Education Programs. 

 

"The Tournament of Champions is a fantastic event hosted by the BC Sports
Hall of Fame" said Colin Brown, COO of Canadian Direct Insurance. "It is not
just a great day to golf and rub shoulders with BC's greatest athletes, but
also a wonderful way to support the Hall's Hero In YouC Youth Education
Programs. Canadian Direct Insurance is very proud to partner with the Hall
as we see the direct positive impact that our athletes and the Hero In You
has on the kids in our province".

 

BC Sports Hall of Famer and Honourary Chair of the 2013 Tournament of
Champions, Orland Kurtenbach, was on site welcoming players and joining in
on the fun with other Honoured Members of the Hall such as Gareth Rees, Lynn
Kanuka, Darcy Rota, Thelma Wright, Ernie Dougherty, Moira Colbourne, Ron
Jones, Tommy Europe and Dale Walters.

 

The 18th Annual Tournament of Champions was hosted at the prestigious Morgan
Creek Golf Course in Surrey, BC on Tuesday June 25, 2013.

 

Proceeds from the Tournament support the Hall's Hero In YouC Youth Education
Programs (www.heroinyou.com). A few components of the program include free
curriculum-linked lesson plans based on the journeys of BC's greatest
athletes, students have a chance to meet our sport heroes in the classroom,
be inspired and learn how to set goals, develop personal plans and achieve
success - all through the positive values of sport.
