                                        News Release

Osoyoos, March 15, 2013

The Osoyoos Museum Society proudly announces the opening of our travelling exhibit The War of 1812 in the West: The Oregon Country Legacy.

This fall, 200 years ago, a little-known event at Fort Astoria, Oregon, prevented conflict in the Pacific Northwest during the War of 1812. Ramifications of this event came close to resulting in a later war between Great Britain and the United States. This exhibit tells the story of what happened in the West as a result of the War of 1812.

Osoyoos Museum Executive Director/Curator Ken Favrholdt will present an illustrated lecture on The War of 1812 in the West on Wednesday, March 20 from 7-8 p.m.

Starting in late April the exhibit will be travelling to other museums in B.C. Another version of the exhibit - a bilingual banner display - will also be travelling to different venues in B.C. Dates and locations to be announced.
