Dear Member,
We are pleased to welcome two new staff members to the Maritime Museum team - Geneviève Casault, Director of Development and Operations and Cassie Holcomb, Membership and Grants Coordinator.
With a masters in museum studies and experience at an art museum in Brussels and a Calgary management consulting firm, Geneviève brings her expertise in management consultation, corporate partnerships, communications, and audience development to the Museum. Cassie has a strong background in membership development, communications, and fundraising through working for several non-profit organizations in Victoria.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Museum taking on many tasks from greeting visitors to helping out with our collection and library. This month, Joyce Metson celebrates 20 year of volunteering for the Museum! Read the article about Joyce and all she has done as a volunteer below. Thank you to all of our volunteers who give their time to make the Maritime Museum an amazing place to visit.
They are many events coming up at the Museum including the final lecture in our Guardians of the Coast (http://mmbc.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=392ce41151756bc6d355f6be7&id=cc865a5dd8&e=cfc47c903b) speakers series and the always popular Massive Marine Garage Sale (http://mmbc.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=392ce41151756bc6d355f6be7&id=1f89075a0d&e=cfc47c903b) on April 20th. Celebrating Joyce Metson’s 20^th year as a volunteer, 1993 - 2013
The Maritime Museum of BC acknowledges longtime volunteer Joyce Metson for her 20 years of dedicated service, clocking close to 4,000 hours of volunteer time. Joyce is an inspiration to her colleagues at the Museum and is a very kind and generous person. Joyce chose to volunteer because she had been around sailors and ship talk most of her married life putting her on familiar ground. She first started in the office typing and filing and after some years, Joyce moved to the Museums’ front desk where she has been for the past two years. Joyce is a patient mentor the younger volunteers who love to work with her. She has so done many things for the Museum including helping with events, coordinating volunteers and fostering a sense of community whenever she is present. The Museum is in a debt of gratitude for the many years of service that Joyce has given and we look forward to her continued service for many years to come.
