JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Programming and Events

REPORTS TO: Executive Director 

Full time

Job Summary 

Share the heritage of Port Moody with individuals and groups through the development and execution of Museum events, programs, exhibitions, displays and promotional activities, including the recruitment and supervision of volunteers. 

 

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities 

·         Plan and coordinate special events both at the Museum and off-site: plan activities, purchase materials, promote events, organize volunteers and work with sponsors / partners to deliver events.   

·         Develop and deliver educational programming and materials; build relationships with teachers and target groups and promote programs;

·         Manage Event & Programs budget; including event grant applications and sponsorships

·         Manage the Museum’s permanent and temporary exhibition and display projects       

·         Recruit and manage program/event volunteers, including attendance at Volunteer Fairs and organizing Volunteer Appreciation. 

·         Marketing Promotions and Communications: Create and distribute promotional materials, update social networking sites and Museum website. 

·         Assist in daily Museum operations 

·         Schedule weekend staff and volunteers

·         Purchase supplies for Gift Shop and oversee sales. 

·         Provide Board and Member support as required. 

 

Supervisory Responsibility 

Direct Reports: 

·         Weekend /Summer Staff 

·         Museum Volunteers 

 

Indirect Reports: 

 N/A 

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Required 

 

Education: 

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of experience and education including courses in education, history and marketing/promotions.   

 

Experience: 

Three to five years of related experience developing, promoting and executing a wide variety of events and programs in an educational setting. Experience in volunteer management.   

 

Licenses/Certificates/Registrations: 

 N/A   FoodSafe, Serving It Right, BC Drivers License

 

Specific Requirements: 

·         Full Time position; some weekends required

·         Strong communication skills (written and verbal, English essential) 

·         Excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences 

·         Experience developing teaching materials and programs 

·         Experience with event coordination    

·         Experience creating marketing and promotional materials; newsletters  

·         Familiar with Museum environment and operations 

·         Intermediate level of pc computer competency with Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign and familiarity with database and publishing software
