[BCMA] Job Postings at the Bulkley Valley Museum

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Bulkley Valley Historical & Museum Society welcomes applications for the
temporary positions of Museum Assistant and Research Assistant (descriptions
below). These positions are jointly funded by the Young Canada Works (YCW)
program and the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) employment initiative, and
therefore are subject to funding approval. Candidates must be students
between the ages of 16 and 30, intending to return to full-time studies in
the fall. We welcome all applicants regardless of ethnicity, gender or
disability.

 

.         Museum Assistant: The successful candidate will provide guided
tours and interpretation of exhibitions to local and out of town visitors to
the museum, assist with gift shop sales, and perform general office duties.
Other tasks include database work, archival research services, and
collection maintenance. The Museum Assistant will work closely with the
Curator/Administrator. Qualifications: University/college arts or humanities
students preferred. The successful candidate is organized, detail-oriented,
computer literate, and possesses good written/oral communication skills. An
enthusiasm for local history, community, collections, and working with the
public is an asset.

 

.         Research Assistant: The successful candidate will conduct regional
research and assist with assembling material for upcoming museum
exhibitions. Other duties include general administration, archival research
services, and collection maintenance. The Museum Assistant will work closely
with the Museum Director. Qualifications: High school graduates or
university/college students preferred. The successful candidate is skilled
at historical research and has a passion for local history.

 

Period of Employment (both positions): May 20th - August 23rd (14 weeks)
