Good morning Tom.

Greetings from the Texada Island Museum & Archives.
We would be interested in the switch board from the Burrard Drydock as Texada Island has a long history with the Burrard Drydock.
John Lockhart a former superintendent at Burrard Drydocks was also a director of Pacific Lime Company which owned and operated a lime processing plant and quarry in Blubber Bay on the NW tip of Texada Island.
Formed in 1910 Pacific Lime Co. had it’s own sawmill and cooperage. A town site followed with Company store, post office, Doctors office and school. As the demand for lime products grew Pacific Lime Co. formed Kingsley Navigation and purchased ships to transport the product along the Pacific Coast and Hawaii.
As a director at Burrard Drydock John Lockhart acquired the huge bell and mast from the original Empress of Japan when it was being scrapped (1924). John sent the bell and mast to Blubber Bay where the bell was mounted in the tower of the school and the mast as a flag pole. The bell now resides at the Vancouver Maritime Museum.
Texada Island Heritage Society operate two museums one in Blubber Bay sponsored by Ash Grove Cement Co. Blubber Bay Quarry and the second is in the former Van Anda Elementary School building where we are sponsored by School District #47. We are also recognized as the Texada Island Heritage Commission funded through the Powell River Regional District. For more information please visit our web site www.texadaheritagesociety.com

Thanks for your consideration.

Hello all

BVM has a donation offer of a telephone switchboard.

This is a 15 line (it has 30 pins) board that was used at Burrard Drydock. By the look of it, it is 1960’s vintage. It has a rotary dial.

It is in good condition and is in the Lower Mainland.

Contact me at the email listed below if you want more details.

There are photos available
