For Immediate Release, Vancouver, B.C. The Board of Trustees of the BC
Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the new roles of senior
employees. Allison Mailer is the new Executive Director of the organization
and Jason Beck is the Curator and Facility Director. Together Mailer and
Beck have close to thirty years of experience with the BC Sports Hall of
Fame and both are enthusiastically committed to leading the organization.

Of the new appointments, vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees Al Tynan said,
"We are pleased to have elevated Allison's position to Executive Director at
the BC Sports Hall of Fame and we trust in combination with Jason's new role
the team at the BC Sports Hall of Fame will grow the impact and reach of our
organization while ensuring BC's sport heritage is protected and celebrated
to inspire future generations of BC Sports Hall of Famers."

Of her new position Mailer says, "I am very excited and honoured the
Executive Committee of the BC Sports Hall of Fame have entrusted me with
this outstanding opportunity. As a non-profit organization the BC Sports
Hall of Fame has been very fortunate to have the support of exceptional
partners and individuals and I look forward to working with our Honoured
Members, volunteers, sponsors, board members and other supporters as we
continue to strive towards our vision of Honouring the Past and Inspiring
the Future.

Of the BC Sports Hall of Fame Mailer shares, "I truly value sport and the
lessons we can all learn from the outstanding athletes and teams that have
been inducted to the BC Sports Hall of Fame. I have been honoured to share
these inspiring stories with British Columbians for close to two decades and
take great pride in the work done at the BC Sports Hall of Fame. I believe
the core or our organization's success has been and will continue to be
establishing and maintaining relationships. There is no greater feeling than
when an athlete demonstrates his or her trust in our organization through
the donation of a treasured artifact and we can then inspire a future Hall
of Famer with the story connected to that artifact."

About Allison Mailer

Upon graduating from UBC in Anthropology with a focus on museum studies in
1994 Allison was offered a two month contract to cover the front desk and
lead tours at the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Since then she has held many
roles within the organization from leading the volunteer and education
programs, managing special events, media relations, marketing and facility
planning. From April 2010 through January 2012 Allison was the project
manager for the major renovation project undertaken by the BC Sports Hall of
Fame transforming the Hall of Champions and creating the Vancouver 2010
Gallery. Allison has always enjoyed the unique nature of working at the BC
Sports Hall of Fame where the athletes and teams entrust the staff team with
their inspiring stories and artifact treasures with the community. Allison
has been on the Board for the International Sports Heritage Association and
is currently the Vice-President Communications for the Canadian Association
for Sport Heritage. Allison is a past figure skater and soccer player and is
now enjoying sport mostly from the side line as she cheers on her future
Hall of Fame.

About Jason Beck

In November 2003 while attending the University College of the Fraser Valley
in Abbotsford, Jason began a six-month practicum at the BC Sports Hall of
Fame creating an organizational guide for the Hall's archival collection.
At the practicum's conclusion he was hired part-time as a curatorial
assistant for the summer, a position he maintained for the next two years
while completing his B.A. in History at Simon Fraser University. Over time
Jason's roles broadened to include work with the artifact collection and
creating museum displays, as well as research and writing. Upon graduation
in 2006, he was hired as the BC Sports Hall of Fame's full-time curator,
responsible for managing the Hall's enormous artifact and archival
collections. A sports nut since a young boy and a competitive soccer
player, Jason remains passionate about sharing with visitors BC sports
stories of all kinds-the great, the weird, the tragic, the unknown-using
items from the Hall of Fame's remarkable collection.
