The Friends of Fort Steele Society is a not-for-profit society dedicated to
conserving, presenting and teaching the history of Fort Steele and the
Kootenays on behalf of the Province of British Columbia, the Kootenay
Community and the members of the society.  The Friends will strive to
develop mutually rewarding relationships with its employees, members,
partners, suppliers and visitors.  High standards for safety and ethical

The Friends of Fort Steele are currently seeking a Steam Train Engineer.
This is a full time, seasonal position.  The Steam Train Engineer will be
responsible for overseeing all aspects of the train department at Fort
Steele. The Steam Train Engineer will report directly to the General
Manager.



Successful candidates will have:

   - BCSA Power Engineer or Antique Show Boiler Operator and BCSA
   Locomotion Engineers Certification or a combination of experience and
   relevant certification
   - Willingness to complete BCSA/Fort Steele Fireman and Engineers
   examinations
   - Several years of experience as a Steam Train Engineer operator
   - Excellent safety record required.  Must adhere to all safety,
   compliance and maintenance procedures
   - Responsible for completing all required log book documentation
   - Supervisory skills to oversee train crew and coordinate schedules
   - Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
   - Requires collaborative and team focused work style
