[BCMA] New BCMA Interim Executive Director

The BCMA Council is pleased to welcome John Grimes as interim Executive Director for the organization.  John Grimes has more than 35 years' experience in the non-profit sector, as a scholar and curator, museum director, and strategic consultant. He is currently President of mission+ strategic solutions and his executive career includes service as a Deputy Director at the Peabody Essex Museum (Salem, MA), Director of the Museum of the Institute for American Indian Arts (now the Museum of Contemporary Native Art, Santa Fe, NM), and Vice President for Advancement at CITC (Anchorage, AK).

Grimes' achievements in arts and education were recognized by a U.S. Presidential appointment to the Board of the Institute of American Indian and Native Alaskan Arts Development in Santa Fe, NM, the only federally-chartered four-year arts college in the United States. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Pact, Inc., a Washington, D.C. based global development NGO with annual operations in excess of $200 million, and programs in sixty-two countries.  Grimes is a graduate of the Getty Museum Leadership Institute, and former Visiting Professor at the National Museum of Ethnology in Osaka, Japan.

Grimes will be leading the organization and working with the Council and the membership to create a cohesive and realistic strategic plan to guide the BCMA into the future.   We are happy to have found such a superbly qualified candidate.
