Call for Submissions: Young Contemporaries of The Reach exhibition, Winter 2014

In recognition of the 90th anniversary of the drainage of Sumas Lake, The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford in partnership with its Young Contemporaries program is calling for submissions by Young Contemporaries program members to exhibit works alongside our traveling exhibition from the National Gallery of Canada, Clash: Conflict and Its Consequences, from January 23 to March 30, 2014.
Young Contemporary program members submitting works for consideration for the exhibition, Drain: An exhibition organized by Young Contemporaries, will include works that touch on themes of, but are not limited to power, progress and environment.
The concept of Drain is to visually consider the wider implications of a major undertaking like a mass drainage, and to create a dialogue around how suchs projects affect communities culturally, politically and environmentally, in historical and contemporary view.
All submissions will be sent to Gabe Kirkley, Special Events and Marketing Assistant at The Reach. All submissions must meet the Young Contemporary Exhibition Submission Guidelines which includes:

*          The Young Contemporaries of The Reach<http://youngcontemporaries.ca/> program membership ID number

*         Cover letter

*         Artist's statement (max 250 words) and list of artist's works with titles, dates, dimensions and medium

*         CD, USB or online submission of images in high resolution .jpg format including titles, dates, dimensions and medium

*         A self-addressed stamped envelope, if you want your submission returned
Submissions will be accepted until December 01, 2013.
All artists will be notified of the Young Contemporary Exhibition Committee's selection of works by
December 15, 2013.
