Dear BCMA members:

A couple of weeks ago, Scott Marsden posted a note for me - asking BCMA members about issues facing their museums and their communities. This material is helping me to prepare the approach to my keynote address next week. So far, I have received interesting responses and have had some great email exchanges. But I thought I would put the request out again to see if there were any others who might like to reply.

My purpose is for to get the best sense I can of the issues that are shaping museum decisions about directions and priorities. Here are my questions:

1) From your perspective, what are the top two issues being faced by your museum?

2) From your perspective, what are the top two issues being faced by the culture of your community? (by this I mean the issues that the community has a whole is grappling with - and which are shaping the local culture)

In both instances, I would ask that you state the issues simply - one sentence per issue. I know that you could write volumes on the causes and implications, but I am just trying to get a list of issues. Please only send what you consider to be the top two. In this process you may well generate ten or twenty issues, which I'm guessing will be a useful list for you. It will help me to manage what may be a lot of information if you keep your lists to a maximum of two issues.

Please send these to me at Douglas Worts <douglasworts at worldviewsconsulting.org>>.

Many thanks, and I look forward to meeting many of you in Parksville soon.
