Gallery Offers Halloween Costume Creations

 

What: Creative Halloween Costume Fundraising Event 

Where: Vernon Public Art Gallery, 3228 31st Ave. Vernon, BC

When: October 31, 2013, 1-5pm

Who: Vernon Public Art Gallery 


The Vernon Public Art Gallery is hosting an event with Vernon's MC College
and Vernon body artists Tanya Lipscomb and Christine Turpin, offering hair
styling and costume make-up needs this Halloween.

 

"We are excited to partner with MC College and Tanya and Christine for this
fun family event. Art doesn't always come in the form of a painting or
sculpture, art is everywhere and hair and make-up design is a perfect
example of this. And on Halloween, there are no limits to what can be
created." said Dauna Kennedy Grant, Executive Director.

 

The Gallery encourages trick-or-treaters and party goers to dress as an
artist or artwork. Frida Kahlo, Roy Lichtenstein pop art and Andy Warhol are
popular costume ideas. But of course, zombies and princesses need help with
their hair and make-up as well. Come with a costume idea and let the artists
add colour, texture, sparkle or gore to your costume this year. The Gallery
will have a photo-booth set up for all participants following their
appointments and images will be available for free download. 

 

The event will run from 1:00pm - 5:00pm on Thursday, October 31st at MC
College, 3409 31st Ave. Vernon, just two blocks down from the Gallery.
Participants are asked to register ahead of time by calling the Vernon
Public Art Gallery at 250-545-3173. The fee for services is $5 for face
painting for kids 12 and under, $10 for hairstyling and $10 for make-up
application. 

 

Proceeds support ongoing exhibitions and programming at the Vernon Public
Art Gallery.
