Entertainment Line-up for RiverFest Unveiled

 

New Westminster, BC:  Up and coming Vancouver-based bands will take to the
YVR Stage as part of this year’s  RiverFest: Inspired by the Fraser - on
Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28t on the New Westminster
Waterfront for  BC and World Rivers Day.

 

Produced by the Fraser River Discovery Centre, in partnership with the Arts
Council of New Westminster and the City of New Westminster, the event will
feature several top BC-based performers including Cory Hawthorne, The River
and The Road, Bodhi Jones and ByStarlight.  “We are absolutely delighted
with this year’s line-up” announced Cindy Sale, Communication and Events
Coordinator for the Fraser River Discovery Centre.  “By collaborating with
the MusicFest NewWest committee of the Arts Council of New Westminster, we
have been able to finalize an entertainment line-up that offers a pleasant
blend of music with  some of BC’s hottest emerging talents.”

 

Friday’s music production is sponsored by the MusicFest NewWest committee of
the Arts Council and will feature award winning New Westminster Secondary
School Jazz Band, Derrival, country star Cory Hawthorne Band and the 7-piece
New Orleans Style, blues band, RazzMaJazz.

 

Saturday will kick off with The Wilds, led by singer/songwriters Holly
Arntzen and Kevin Wright of the Artist Response Team. Famous for their
Voices of Nature School Music program, they have inspired music in the
hearts of children throughout the province, and will take you on a cultural,
ecological journey, from the soaring mountains to the spawning rivers. 

 

The vibe will continue with Peak Performance Project Top 20 Artists - The
River and The Road (2012) and Bodhi Jones (2012 and 2013) and 604 Records
artists ByStarlight. After this weekend, New Westminster’s waterfront will
never be the same. 

 

Presented by Port Metro Vancouver, RiverFest is a free family event and will
take place on the boardwalk at Westminster Quay on Friday, September 27 and
Saturday, September 28.  The weekend’s activities will consist of art and
artisan displays, interactive displays from river related conservation and
environmental organizations, and the inaugural Salmon Chowder Cook Off at
River Market. Enjoy a Fraser River Tour and watch as marine vessels show off
their strength and agility during the Lucille Johnstone Work Boat Parade.
Live music and entertainment will complete the weekend offerings for an
exciting, family-friendly festival atmosphere.
