[BCMA] Fort Steele presents Jake's Gift

Be inspired by the power of collective memory at the area’s exclusive
presentation of *Jake’s Gift*, an award-winning glimpse of a World War 2
veteran’s reluctant return to Juno Beach.  Fort Steele Heritage Town is
pleased to offer this entertaining and creative show written and performed
by Julia Mackey, a resident of Victoria B.C. with roots in England and
hundreds of acclaimed performances behind her.  *Jake’s Gift* is a
light-hearted look at the effect war-time loss can have on personal
reflection and memory as seen through the eyes of an 80 year old man and a
precocious 10 year old girl.  A discovery at the 2007 Victoria Fringe
Festival winning in four major categories, *Jake’s Gift* continues to reap
rewards for Mackey, across the country, including the Calgary Betty
Mitchell Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance of an Actress in a Drama
and the Royal Canadian Legion Media Award.  Performances of *Jake’s
Gift*have contributed to the Legion’s Remembrance Day activities by
helping them
raise over $17,000 over the past six years.

Suitable for all ages, *Jake’s Gift*, will be performed at the Wild Horse
Theatre on Saturday October 5, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $20 in

The Wild Horse Theatre was built in 1972 to represent a venue for turn of
the century entertainment, a huge part of Fort Steele’s history.   A family
