When: April 9, 2014

Why: Volunteer Appreciation Event

Who: Vernon Public Art Gallery and Vernon and District Volunteer Bureau

The Vernon Public Art Gallery will host the 3rd annual community wide
Volunteer Appreciation Event, in partnership with the Vernon and District
Volunteer Bureau during National Volunteer Week.

The event is open to all not-for-profit organizations who wish to give a
special thanks to the volunteers who play such an important role in our
community.

"The Gallery is not only a cultural institution, but it also acts as a venue
for community events. As a charitable organization that relies heavily on
volunteers, it only made sense to provide the facility for a community wide
volunteer appreciation event. We have the space and the administration to
aid in organizing an event that other agencies don't. We are proud to
partner with outstanding not-for-profits in the Greater Vernon area on this
special day and for many years to come." said Dauna Kennedy Grant, Executive
Director.

VPAG is pleased to announce a special guest speaker; City of Vernon
Councillor, GVAC Chairperson, Juliette Cunningham.

"Mrs. Cunningham plays a significant role, through her work as a municipal
politician, in the success of our volunteer organizations. We are thrilled
to have her speak to our guests on the importance of their individual
contributions as volunteers to not only the organizations they serve, but in
our community as a whole." said Dauna Kennedy Grant, Executive Director.

Catered by The Fig Catering, volunteers can relax and enjoy an afternoon of
music, snacks and refreshments, and be entered to win great door prizes, all
while enjoying the surrounding of the current exhibitions at the Gallery.

Cost to participating agencies is $2.50/volunteer. For more information and
to register your volunteers please contact the Gallery in advance to reserve
your tickets. Vernon Public Art Gallery: 250-545-3173,
