Position: Marketing and Event Coordinator

 

Do like to bring history to life? Coordinate the planning and marketing of
events to be held at the Mackie Lake House this summer.  The Mackie Lake
House Foundation is seeking a temporary (summer) full-time (35 hrs/wk)
Marketing and Event Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities 



To develop and execute a strategy for marketing, creating and administering
events presenting the history of the Mackie Lake House. Included in this job
will be planning for events including logistics, communication, signage and
collateral requirements. Provide on-site event coordination including
problem-solving and decision-making. Manage an Events Calendar for tracking
and to identify and recommend opportunities. Co-ordinate all marketing ad
requirements, ensuring correct material is created, completed, approved and
sent to third party by the due dates. Collaborate with project team members
and gain subject matter expertise.

 

Create, manage and modify pages created on internal websites and social
media sites. Perform a variety of administrative functions, including data
management and correspondence.The student will work under the supervision of
the Mackie Lake House Foundation manager regarding all aspects of the
projects. 

Qualifications 


The candidate must fulfill all eligibility requirements of the Canada Summer
Jobs Initiative:

*	be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; 
*	have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic
year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next
academic year;
*	be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act <http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/epb/yi/yep/programs/scpp.shtml#ftn3>
3; and,
*	be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant
provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

 

Ideally, the candidate will have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate
study in a relevant subject field (i.e. History, Communications, Education)
and will have some experience as a volunteer, student intern or employee in
a related field. The candidate should have an expressed interest in working
in Heritage and have familiarity and interest in the history of the BC
Interior. 

An outgoing personality with good public speaking skills and ability to work
well with people of all ages is required. Strong organizational and time
management skills as well as the ability to work independently, and as part
of a team should be demonstrated. The candidate will be in a position to
work with the public, and may require a background criminal records check.

The candidate must have experience working with a PC computer (prefer prior
experience working with Photoshop and the Office suite). Good writing,
computer, and communication skills required. 

Terms of Employment 
28 April 2014 through 16 Aug 2014; a flexible schedule with some Saturday or
Sunday shifts required, typically Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:30pm,
with a half-hour unpaid lunch. 
Rate of Pay: $13.00 hour 

The Marketing and Event Coordinator position is dependent on grant funding.
