Hello George,

We switched over to Sylvania LED18 Par 38/Dim/830/FL40 and FL25 about two years ago. We have seen significant direct energy savings from the lower wattage and HVAC consumption to cool exhibition areas, as well as indirect benefits. I think they are great except, of the 120 purchased, six have proven to be faulty after a year to 18 months of use. Our supplier has replaced them at no cost but I'm not sure if he will continue to do so if more fail in the future.

Hope this helps and feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

Regards,
Ted

Subject: [BCMA] Question about LED bulbs

Hello all:

We are considering using LED bulbs and wondered if any art museums had any experience with them. In particular- at least in part because of our very high ceilings and long beam throw we are considering: Sylvania Ultra, professional series LED, Par 38/ 21 watt indoor/outdoor bulb with a CRI of 95.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences they might share?

Thanks very much.
George
