Hi Wendy,
Have a look at the CCI notes N11/7 on Basic Care of Books. It has some good general information and resource list at the end that will also help you find the unbuffered tissue.
This is the link: https://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/publications/notes/11-7-eng.aspx
Also check some other resources such as the "Conservation Book Repair: A Training Manual by Artemis BonaDea at the Alaska State Library website.
If you do a quick google search for "conservation book repair" you can also find a lot of other instructional resources prepared and shared by universities and other cultural institutions that will help you do a proper temporary repair of your book without creating greater damage.
Good Luck,
Paola

Hi Wendy;
try a quick fix with archival quality framing or hinging tape from a picture framing supplier--Opus is probably the easiest;
being archival you can remove it later without further damage if you get to restore the book properly;
just a thought

Hello all
I look after the Greek Heritage Project Museum within the Greek Community of Vancouver Island. We are small in all ways including budget.
I am looking for a source for unbuffered acid free tissue paper for fabric storage-preferable within BC.
I also have an art book printed before 1969 that has fabric based outer cover and it is ripping along the spine. Any quick though correct ideas for mending. Can't afford taking it to a binder but I strongly suspect duct tape is not the answer.
Thank you for your support
Wendy :)
