The Governor General’s History Award for Community Programming<http://canadashistory.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9f8132854db4c2a3b24732481&id=060e3db5e9&e=68307962e6> is presented by Canada’s History and Spectra Energy to small history organizations that have made a big impact over the past eighteen months. Projects should involve a large number of participants from the community in both the creation and execution of the project. Communities can include both geographic communities, as well as cultural communities that represent a broad range of history and traditions.

The winning project will receive $2,500 and a trip for two to Ottawa where they will receive their award for the Governor General of Canada in a special ceremony at Rideau Hall. Recipients also attend the Canada’s History Forum and Celebration Dinner held in conjunction with the awards. It’s a great opportunity to meet historians, writers, teachers, filmmakers and history-enthusiasts from all across Canada.

The deadline for completed applications is August 1, 2014.
