[BCMA] Squamish Heritage Walking Tour Map

SQUAMISH, BC- The Squamish Historical Society has created a self-guided
historical walking tour for locals and visitors to enjoy in this summer
(Please see attachments). In partnership with the Downtown Business
Improvement Association, Squamish 2014, Tourism Squamish, Squamish Days and
the Squamish Farmers Market, the map has been installed downtown at the
corner of Cleveland Avenue and Winnipeg Street to encourage everyone, young
and old, to Celebrate Squamish Milestone's. A printable map can be found
online at www.squamishhistory.ca . 

 

The map was created based on a collaborative project between the Squamish
Historical Society, the Downtown BIA and the Squamish Public Library a few
years ago that installed informational heritage storefront plaques around
the downtown core. Each plaque shows an archival Squamish image and is
accompanied by a historical write up about the photo and its relevant
location. The map creates a walking circle tour with the goal of keeping
visitors downtown to celebrate our community's rich past and engage with
local businesses.
