NEON MARQUEE

August 2 – 31, 2014

 

Artist Keith McKellar's obsessive romance as a Vancouver nighttime cabbie in
the 1970s informed his eccentric and colourful view of people and inspired
him to record the old neon signages of vintage Vancouver theatres, cafes,
clubs and hotels. This exhibition features McKellar’s rendition of legendary
businesses and their landmark roles in the steetscape, including Orpheum
Theatre, Railway Club, Save-On Meats, Sun Tower, Ovaltine Café, Smilin’
Buddha, Astoria Hotel, Helen’s Neon Girl and more. 

 

Opening Reception with the artist present: Saturday August 2nd, 2014 from
2-4pm.
