[BCMA] The BCMA Innovation Committee Wants Your Brain (or just a bit of it)

Hello All,

The BCMA Council struck an Innovation Committee earlier this year, among the committee's tasks was to examine some of the issues facing our sector and come up with innovative solutions to address them.

The Committee has identified five key issues facing museums and galleries in BC and would like feedback at this stage of the process.  Are there major issues we've missed?

Below are the 5 most significant issues we've identified:

a.         Networking - sharing knowledge and resources, collaborating, breaking down silos.
b.         Advocacy - having a strong, cohesive voice for BC museums and galleries.
c.         Technology - meeting the needs of a technological audience, using technology both to provide better access to collections, but also to create efficiencies.
d.         Self-analysis and Renewal - making our institutions relevant to today's audiences, putting the critical eye on what we do, being leaders our communities.
e.         Resources - having adequate resources to meet mandates including funding, knowledge and skilled people.

Provide us with your feedback and just as important, let us know if you have solutions to any of these issues.

We will be presenting a results-oriented session at the BCMA Conference in Penticton in October on these issues and some potential solutions and leading dialogue to bring out additional solutions and next steps.  We look forward to seeing you there!
