[BCMA] Donation of snowmobiles

The J. Armand Bombardier Foundation (JABF), manager of the J. Armand Bombardier Museum (JABM), recently began a significant review of its collection activities within the context of its major renovation and expansion project.



The JABM has a significant group of vehicles, 28 snowmobiles, of which it wishes to alienate. It is seeking museum institutions that may be interested in this collection. The JABM will donate this collection free of charge.
Since the JABM will not request a receipt for income tax purposes, the acquisition process will be much easier, as it is not required to have the value of the objects confirmed by the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board. However, the Museum is able to provide appraisals for acquisition purposes.



The attached document presents the list of snowmobiles available. The JABM prefers to offer the collection of 28 snowmobiles in its entirety to one institution, if possible. An institution could also acquire part of the collection, albeit in a large block (10 objects or more), in order to avoid its dispersion in all directions.



The JABF has mandated Benoît Légaré to take steps to identify potential acquirers for all the snowmobiles, in whole or in part. He is therefore the person you should contact to discuss any additional requests for information. Based on our project timeline, our objective is to identify potential institutions that are willing to send us a written notice of intention of acquisition by Friday, July 18.

The JABF wishes to make the donation agreements during the summer. The objects thus will be offered to the institutions that will be the first to confirm in writing their firm intention to acquire the objects.
