The Fraser River Discovery Centre is getting Mad About Science on March 22!

New Westminster, BC – Do you have a budding biologist or fledgling physicist
at home? Are you looking for fun and educational activities for the whole
family this spring break? The Fraser River Discovery Centre is hosting a Mad
About Science event on Saturday, March 22nd from 1pm to 4pm featuring
internationally-recognised science educators Mad Science!  Highlights of
this scien-terrific event will include hands-on experiments, special guests,
and an amazing live show by Mad Science! 

 

>From the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, the Fraser River watershed is
among the most fascinating and important river systems on Earth. Through
hands-on exhibits, school programs, and special events, the Fraser River
Discovery Centre works with research institutions, scientists, and educators
to bring the science being carried out on the Fraser River to life. The
Fraser River Discovery Centre has organized a special event to celebrate the
fascinating work that scientists do every day in the Fraser River basin and
around the world. Mad About Science will feature family-friendly activities
such as water testing experiments, the chance to build your own river raft,
dry ice demonstrations, and – our feature event – Mad Science’s amazing
“Fire and Ice” science show at 2pm! Tickets to the Fire and Ice show must be
purchased in advance, but admission to other activities is by donation,
allowing families the flexibility to choose the best option for their
budget. Even more exciting – each Fire and Ice show ticket purchase comes
with a voucher for a FREE kid’s meal at Boston Pizza New West! 

 

“It’s wonderful that so many great organizations are participating in our
celebration of science and family fun,” says Ashleigh Hibbins, Education
Assistant at the Fraser River Discovery Centre. “With so much support from
the community, we can showcase fascinating activities to visitors of all
ages and backgrounds.” Mad About Science will help families feel more
connected to the Fraser River, and demonstrate that science can be exciting,
hands-on, and accessible to all. 

 

Admission to Mad About Science activities and exhibits is by donation, and
does not include entry to Mad Science’s “Fire and Ice” show. Tickets for
“Fire and Ice” at 2pm on March 22nd are $7 (incl. tax) for 1 adult and 1
child, plus $5 for each additional child. Seating is limited, so purchase
your tickets by phone or in person at the Fraser River Discovery Centre
today! 

 

The Fraser River Discovery Centre is an interpretive centre connecting
communities in the discovery and celebration of the living, working Fraser
River. Located along the Westminster boardwalk at 788 Quayside Drive, New
Westminster, the Discovery Centre is open 10:00am to 4:00pm, Wednesday to
Saturday.  Admission to the galleries is by donation.  For further
