The Vernon Public Art Gallery is excited to present an annual exhibition
produced by elementary students from nearly a dozen schools in Vernon and
surrounding areas. 

 

“Art From the Heart is a crowd favourite. Our school
tours and programming are highest at this time of year. It’s really special for
young artists to display their work in a professional gallery setting. It
encourages students to continue to explore their creativity, a skill so
necessary in today’s education. The  uninhibited creative expression in
this exhibition is inspiring at this age, something that many of us adults lose
over time.” said Dauna Kennedy Grant, Executive Director.

 

SD#22 Elementary Student Exhibition: Art from the
Heart, March 20 – April 18, 2013

The artwork in the annual exhibition Art from the Heart,
by elementary students from School District #22, delights viewers with their
creations, under the guidance of their art teachers. The students often portray
the world that surrounds them, or in other cases, they directly reference their
experiences through the language of visual forms. Their uninhibited approach to
art-making reflects the students’ natural inclination and desire to
communicate.

 

Art
>From the Heart
opens on Thursday, March 20th, and the opening reception takes place
at the Gallery on Saturday, March 22, from 1:00 pm – 3:00pm. This event is open
to the public and the community is invited to attend.
