Way’ Everyone!

Over the past year Jordan Coble and I have been working hard to expand the Westbank First Nation Heritage Repository and establish a Westbank First Nation Museum.

On Wednesday (March 5th), with the help of WFN Staff and several other people, the Repository relocated and is now the Sncəwips Heritage Museum!

sncəwips is pronounced SEN-CH-WEE-PS; it is a metaphor for heritage, family and the background of our WFN artefacts. The syilx/ Okanagan name for the Museum is: sncəwips  iʔ  sqilxʷ  sncəx̌ʷiɬxʷtn which means “a house/ protector of First Nation heritage”.

To make this Museum happen we had to work with many people as a cohesive team - we certainly could not have done this on their own! All of this hard work has paid off and we are all eager to have the history and heritage of WFN shine!

Jordan and I will be setting up the Museum over the next few weeks. The Museum will not be open just quite yet but it is hoped that the doors will be open at the beginning of April.
