Community Perspectives Tour with Dr. Robert Belton, Ph.D.
Thursday, April 10th, 7:00 pm

Join Dr. Robert Belton, UBCO Associate Professor, Art History, for a tour of the Kamloops Art Gallery's upcoming exhibition, Unreal. Dr. Belton's rich experience and research, focused on Surrealist art and film, Canadian art, architecture and art theory, will illuminate the works in the exhibition.

The founding Dean of the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies in the University of British Columbia Okanagan in Kelowna, B.C., Dr. Robert Belton currently teaches art history, visual culture, and popular music. He has taught the history of art and aesthetic theory and criticism at McMaster University, the University of Western Ontario and Queen's University, where he received the Alma Mater Society Frank Knox Award for Teaching Excellence (1991-92) and the Arts and Science Undergraduate Society Award for Teaching Excellence (1991-92). Dr. Belton is the author of Sights of Resistance: Approaches to Canadian Visual Culture (2001), The Theatre of the Self: The Life and Art of William Ronald (1999), and The Beribboned Bomb: The Image of Woman in Male Surrealist Art (1995); and he is the general editor of Art: The World of Art, from Aboriginal to American Pop, Renaissance Masters to Postmodernism (2002).
