*JOB DESCRIPTION*

*The Administrative and Gallery Assistant: *The successful candidate 
will assist the Director/Curator with activities of the Langham, 
providing guided tours and interpretation of exhibitions to local and 
out of town visitors to the museum and galleries and perform general 
office duties. The candidate will assist the Curator with installation 
and dismantling of exhibitions in the 2 galleries. The Assistants will 
also plan and implement youth summer arts programs.

Other tasks include database work, archival research services, and 
ensuring proper protocol and care of artifacts. The Assistant will work 
closely with the Director/Curator and the Japanese Canadian Museum 
Committee volunteers. The Assistant will also be expected from time to 
time to assist with any tasks related to the organization's activities 
as requested by the Director/Curator.

*Qualifications*: High School, University/College arts or humanities 
students preferred. The successful candidate has a keen interest in 
contemporary visual, performing or literary arts and / or museum 
practices. Experience and knowledge of mentoring/teaching visual or 
performing arts is an asset. The candidate must be well organized, 
detail-oriented, computer literate, and possesses good written/oral 
communication skills. An enthusiasm for local history, community, 
collections, and working with the public is also an asset.Possesses the 
ability to work both independently and in a team environment
