[BCMA] CALL FOR PRESENTERS: deadline in 2 weeks!

Fancy a speaking opportunity? Have a subject you'd like to speak on? Are you
an expert in an area and just itching to share what you know? 

 

CALL FOR PRESENTERS! BC Museums Association Conference 2014- Penticton,
October 22-25

 

This year's BC Museums Association Conference, The Third Space -
Re-imagining our Cultural Landscape, presents several speaking opportunities
for experts in a variety of areas of interest to you, our membership. 

 

We are currently seeking speaking and learning proposals for sessions in the
following formats:

 

*	Workshops: both half- and full-day
*	Plenaries: 60-90 minutes in length
*	Immersion sessions: 60-90 minutes in length
*	Stories from the Trenches: 5 minute (timed), no Powerpoint,
rapid-fire personal stories

 

Proposals should demonstrate a connection to the conference theme: The Third
Space.  Sessions can address the theme by discussing concepts of:

 

*	re-imagining creativity and connection
*	re-inventing learning and community involvement
*	and creating engaging social spaces.

 

NEW THIS YEAR

Immersion Sessions allow delegates to choose a "stream" or focus for the
day. Proposals for Immersion Sessions should specifically relate to the
stream and address issues, technical training, management and operational
topics of the area of focus. There are five areas of focus to choose from:

1.	Museum & Archives
2.	Galleries
3.	Transport, Marine and Industrial museums
4.	Heritage Property Sites
5.	First Nations Cultural Centres

 

Stories from the Trenches are five-minute, timed presentations in PechaKucha
style. No Powerpoint is allowed. The format will be rapid-fire personal
stories, one after the other, with a facilitator ensuring presenters
strictly adhere to the five-minute time limit. Stories can be funny, sad,
ironic, suspenseful.the choice is yours! We want to hear what your job is
REALLY like! This is BC Reports reinvented!
