[BCMA] Job Posting - Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society Part Time

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, built in 1894 in the historic village of 
Steveston, is a living monument to the individuals involved in B.C.’s 
fishing industry. The site is operated by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery 
Society, a non-profit organization and registered charity.  The site is 
open daily year round from 10am to 5pm, and welcomes over 46,000 visitors 
each year.
Heritage Interpreter – Part time casual position
We are currently seeking outgoing individuals to join our Heritage 
Interpreter team of front line staff, dedicated to providing exemplary 
customer service in presenting the site to visitors. 
Reporting to the Marketing & Visitor Services Manager, responsibilities 
include: 
Delivering tours and educational programs
Performing Front Desk duties, including greeting visitors, responding to 
visitor enquiries, and conducting admission and Cannery Store transactions
Assisting with special events as required

Qualifications:
Excellent customer service skills
Enthusiastic about working with the public
Able to work with young children
Effective team member
Willing to dress in period costume
Public speaking experience an asset
Fluency in French or additional languages an asset
A criminal record check is required

This is a permanent part time position. You may be expected to work 
variable hours, including weekends, as the work schedule requires. Work 
schedules will be constructed with input on your availability and site 
staffing requirements. There may be periods of time where you are not 
scheduled due to low staffing requirements. 

Starting wage is $13 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacations.
