PENTICTON MUSEUM MANAGER / CURATOR

The City of Penticton, located in the heart of wine country in the spectacular Okanagan Valley, is seeking applications for a Museum Manager/Curator.

Reporting to the General Manager - Recreation Services & Facilities, the Manager/Curator will provide vision and direction, and be responsible for all archiving, accessioning, display, restorative and preservative functions of the Penticton Museum & Archives.

The Manager/Curator will research and apply for grants and other funding opportunities; handle inquiries from researchers; network with other museum professionals; work with community groups; manage staff and be responsible for developing and maintaining the Museum's annual budgets.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in History, Museum, Archival, Library Science or other related discipline;  3 or more years related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience as recognized by the City of Penticton; demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices currently employed in the management of museums and archives; excellent computer skills and competency with database use; outstanding oral, written and interpersonal skills; the physical ability to lift heavy material (30 to 50 lbs.) and a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
